44th WINTERFEST BOAT PARADE OF LIGHTS

by jeff@lyonsroar.com | Dec 13, 2015 | boats, Ft. Lauderdale

Boats of all sizes are welcome.
“Sleighin’ it” in front of the Dragon Boat.
This year’s theme was “Fairy Tales Afloat” and I posed with the wicked witch of the west.

My Ten poses in front of She’s a 10.
Someone has to run around, get everyone in place and placate captains jockeying for space along the seawall.
We get help from a friendly spectator with a self portrait.

Interacting with folks on the floats and people who come to watch is great fun.
A peek through the palms. Where’s Waldo?
Many boats are too big to navigate safely in the New River, so tug boats tend to them until they reach the ICW.

MR. Bobb is always super-decked out, so is the owner’s home across the street from our condo.
We go early to chat with folks and then leave shortly after sundown.
Going to Grandma’s House was a great boat theme.

Angels on the bow are needed before the 12-mile route is completed in Pompano.
We take a last look at the boats from atop Andrew’s Ave. bridge, before heading off to dinner at a beach restaurant.
Lighting up a beautiful night for a boat parade.

The parade is about to start as the theme boat and leader is pulled & pushed by tugs to to head up the fleet.
A “Farewell Selfie” from atop Andrew’s Ave. Bridge.
