After a long day (9-29-18) of traipsing around the Harvest Folk Festival in Catawba we were ready to wind down with some delightful wines on the relaxing patio at Shadow Line Vineyards. This quiet spot is pleasantly off the beaten path.
The owner and our hostess, Geba Davenport, made us feel welcome. We enjoyed every wine she offered during our tasting as well as her knowledge of the different vintages.
Geba took the time to show us the stainless steel vats she and her husband Marvin age wine in. The vintners make wine that tastes good without sacrificing flavor for expected parameters show wines must adhere to. Their method works.
The winery and tasting room doors opened for business February 13, 2016. The Davenports lived on this property many years before they planted their first vines in 2012. The name comes from 2550 Shadow Line Lane, Granite Falls, NC where the vineyard is situated.
The Davenports offer light snacks, but they encourage their guests to bring their own food to eat while imbibing with a picturesque view of a pond in the hollow.
After lunch we took a walk among the vines and reflected on the peaceful afternoon we enjoyed at Shadow Line Vineyard.
