There’s always a surprise at Rock City and Mother’s Day 2022 was no exception. On display in the parking lot were student-decorated cars.

The lavishly-themed vehicles are donated to a traveling program that uses the art projects to expand young minds.

Just inside the first pathway to Rock City’s wonderland of stone formations we were greeted with an array of Summer Blooms.

The showy plants take longer to bloom atop Lookout Mountain. Hearty Rhododendrons were prevalent throughout the park.

Some things in Rock City’s maze of quirky-stone formations are always fun. Karen holding up the giant “Balancing Rock” amazed this young boy.

Flowers tucked into rock rifts and crisp mountain air makes a stunning display.

Even the lush lichen lit up the rocks with vivid colors.

We took a break from the blooms to pose for a dramatic portrait in front of High Falls.

I enjoy the festive flowers, even if my species-identification skills are not the best.

It was a glorious day for viewing seven states at Rock City’s main lookout.

Rock City always showcases music at their special events. Folk musician Matt Downer played forgotten gems and cracked-wise for the day’s live act. He kept time with his wooden-hillbilly percussion instrument.

Rock City is a thirty-minute drive to the top of Lookout Mountain from our home. It’s and amazing place and they promote lots of special occasions that keep us coming back. Karen’s insistence that we purchase season passes and the rugged beauty of this fantastic location, makes attending their excellent events an easy decision.
