Karen works with Phil and Lauren. She offered my services as officiant for their wedding on Saturday, May 4, 2019. It was an honor and great pleasure to join this lovely couple in wedlock and unite their wonderful families.

The ceremony was set outside, but sporadic and intense rains called for “Plan B” and the show was wisely moved inside the Firethorne Country Club in Charlotte, NC.

Prior to the rite, I gave Phil three handkerchiefs and told him, “Keep one handy for when she cries and one for nervous perspiration. Tears and sweat are wedding staples.” He told me later, “Thanks so much for the hankies. I needed all three.”

Karen captured the beautiful bride and her look-alike sister getting ready for the nuptials.

Lauren and Phil wrote their own vows. I feel sure Lauren performed most of the work on the actual ceremony. She did a fantastic job!

Lauren recited her personal vows first. It gave Phil time to make last-minute mental edits to his oath.

Phil was adamant about “winging his vows” but I made him give me a written copy just in case nerves got the best of him and prompting was needed. The bride and groom performed flawlessly. Their vows were sincere, moving, empirical and humorous.

It was a great privilege to announce that Lauren Ackerman and Philip J. Blaising III are now, “husband and wife!”

I was the only one that faced outside and saw the rain start after the bride came down the aisle. It was pouring when we dashed onto the balcony following the ceremony. “Plan B” was a smart choice.

I needed help chasing the newlyweds down to sign the marriage certificate. I knew it would be a lost cause when the dancing started. Thanks, Phil and Lauren, for allowing me to participate in your memorable and fun event. I know your marriage will be outstanding and last forever!
