Karen and I decided it’s time to sell our Ft. Lauderdale Condo. We Flew to south Florida January 17-23, 2020. We used the long weekend to visit friends and old haunts. On Tuesday, Karen went to work at Ally Invest and I started the preparations to ready our condo for sale.

Our good friends, Mike and Amy, welcomed us into their home for two nights. We had a splendid dinner at The Field while being serenaded by the restaurant’s Irish Folk Music band. Saturday was too windy for sunning, so we watched the thoroughbreds run at Gulf Stream Park in Hallandale Beach.

We carefully inspected the horses as they were paraded on the paddock prior to each race, poured over their stats on the racing form and made our best guesses at which steed to bet on. Karen picked our only winner for the entire day in the last race.

Our florida friends since 1996, Ken and Cathy, put us up at their place for two nights. Captain Ken took us for a cruise down the New River on his boat Sunday.

It was a glorious day for boating with great friends. The river was jam-packed with inexperienced boaters. It was comforting to have two licensed captains on board to worry about the crazies that ply the waterways on weekends.

The holiday Monday found us at our favorite spot on Ft. Lauderdale Beach in front of Blondie’s. One of Karen’s coworkers joined us for some toes in the sand chilling in the sun.

We were fortunate to catch Ann Aylesworth in town for her class at MPT. We had a great dinner downtown on Las Olas Blvd at the Purple Pig Pub, AKA the Royal Pig Pub.

Thursday, I got to spend a few hours watching storms march in off the Atlantic on the north end of Ft. Lauderdale’s beach, before picking Karen up from work to catch our plane ride back to Charlotte.

None of the buildings along both sides of the New River in the above photo existed when we bought our condo in 1996. Ft. Lauderdale is growing at a blistering pace. Our condo is still an awesome location, with a fantastic dock and a great place to live. We just don’t plan to retire there. We hope the new owner enjoys and has as much fun living in our home as we did. If you want to buy a piece of paradise, give me a call.
