Sunrise on Chickamauga Lake in Chattanooga, TN.
Karen likes to go hiking on her December birthdays which can mean challenging weather. We chose trails with waterfalls near Chattanooga. The first morning was cold and rainy, the clouds remained but the day warmed for us.

Karen in her Birthday Tiara at the Foster Falls overlook.
The sheer escarpments surrounding Foster Falls attracts climbers and water fall seekers.
At the end of a rockslide with a trail stepping down through it, was a cool swing bridge.
Look closely through the trees to the right of the main falls and you can see a second cascade.
1.4-miles down the road from Foster Falls, is the Denny Cove trailhead. Picking through the rockslides to stay on the trail was an adventure. Steep cliffs bring technical rock climbers here by the thousands each year.
The rocky precipices make awesome vantage points for viewing the surrounding mountain ranges.
Denny Falls is a perfect, wedding-cake cascade at the end of the trail.
It was clear and crisp with icicles clinging to vines along Falling Waters Creek, when we hiked to the falls.
The trail ends where Falling Waters Falls plunges 110-feet into a horseshoe-shaped valley.
Karen was not happy with me shooting video near the edge. She’s a pragmatic wife and demanded that I give her the car keys in case I took a dive.
I managed to capture some decent video, but was shocked when I saw how thin the shelf I was standing on was from a previously posted drone video.
Karen’s waterfall wishes came true and her smiling face was icing on the cake.
