After a soggy Saturday Karen and I were ready to get out and play. Sunday (4-8-18) we headed to Charlotte’s historic south end for the Front Porch Sundays event. Sponsored by Sycamore Brewing fifty artisans gathered along the commuter rail and people came with their kids and dogs to sip suds, nosh from food trucks, buy some trinkets, listen to live music and relax.

You could hike, bike, drive or take the train to get outside and enjoy the day.

Our hike in the woods a week ago was a tad early for viewing spring’s blooms so we headed to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a sure thing.

UNC’s greenhouse is across the street from their arboretum. Their blooming cactus collection was superb.

Karen went to great lengths to frame these blooms perfectly.

We began our stroll outside in Van Landingham Glen. The well maintained paths wound through lovely foliage and included some interesting features along the way.

The Pagoda overlooked a small pond and provided a perfect photo op.

The vibrant colors that set off this water feature will grow more intense as warmer weather takes hold.

Karen adds to the warm charm of the Sunshine Porch.

The depth in this picture made us want to walk through the frame into the lush greenery and flowers, so we did.

We shared a pleasant Sunday indeed and will probably return to UNC to enjoy some more-a-the-flora at its peak.

“Aw shucks, ma’am. You’re pretty as a posy!”
